Note: This was difficult. Like always. I'm terrible at decisions and this did not help. Just saying. Hope you enjoy this because it took me hours. Seriously. I picked what I thought were going to be my ten songs one day and then I came back the next day and picked a whole new set of ten songs. And the same for the next day. It was a lot, but I finally did it! Again, enjoy!
Top Ten The Killers Songs
10. Change Your Mind (Hot Fuss; 2004): This songs makes me smile, like every other song on this list to be honest. It's catchy and the type of song that makes me feel like I should sneak out of the house at 3 am and drive around the city playing this song. That's how it makes me feel and I fucking love it.
9. All These Things That I've Done (Hot Fuss; 2004): Personally, I don't really like the beginning echo-y sound of this song, but after that's over it quickly makes me realize why it makes this list. It makes me dance and it's one of those songs that pretty much everybody knows the words too so you can play it and people will be able to dance even if they don't even know who The Killers are.
8. Neon Tiger (Day & Age; 2008): I first found this song when I needed some cool lyrics to write in glow paint at a party (long story). I googled something along the lines of 'cool party lyrics' or 'the best indie party songs' and I found this one. It's not a very popular song by the Killers but it's fucking awesome.
7. Read My Mind (Sam's Town; 2006): This is kind of like All These Things That I've Done (only in popularity). It's probably the third most popular The Killers song, so you could probably play this and people could sing along. I also really, really love these lyrics. Like, a lot.
6. Mr. Brightside (Hot Fuss; 2004): By far, this is the most popular The Killers song. And for a reason too. This song is so fucking good. Like its off the charts good. Right away from the first line you get hooked and the song makes you want to do nothing but sing along with your friends.
5. A Matter of Time (Battle Born; 2012): Such a good song. This should be up higher on my list I think, but I couldn't move any of the songs above this because I love them too. This song is catchy and fast and makes you want to dance. And, it has great lyrics.
4. Runaways (Battle Born; 2012): This song has lyrics that tell a story. Not just a message, sure it tells a message too, but it also tells a story. It has a story that I love and that I think a lot of people can understand firsthand. Although I haven't gotten married yet or had a kid, I like to think I can relate to some of these lyrics.
3. This Is Your Life (Day & Age; 2008): I love this song. Duh, Laura, of course you do. That's why it's on this list in the number 3 spot. Anyway... This song tells a story too and it's just really catchy. It makes me happy, that's why I love it.
2. Smile Like You Mean It (Hot Fuss; 2004): Okay, story time, I listened to this song the first day that I wrote this and I really like it, so it made the list. Then, the next day, at my first day at my new job, this song came on the radio. It was meant to be. I came home and immediately put this on the top of my life. This song comforted me when I wasn't really feeling so comfortable and I will always love it for that. Plus, it's also just a great song.
1. When You Were Young (Sam's Town; 2006): This song is so good. I've mentioned in my mixtape I made for my best friend Lilly, that this song reminds me of my friends and what life is going to be like when we are older and looking back when we were young. I love it for that part, but it's also just a really fucking good song. It's the shit.
Bonus: Human (Day & Age; 2008): I thought it was completely 100% wrong to not have Human somewhere on this list/post, so I decided to include it as a bonus. It's not number 1, but it's not my least favorite song. However, the lyrics to this song are ones that one of my best friends sings to me and signs her letters with, so it reminds me of her.
-Laur
"Run neon tiger there's a lot on your mind / They'll strategize and maim you, but don't you let them tame you / You're far too pure and bold / To suffer to strain of the hand and its hold." -Neon Tiger, The Killers
